My Decision Paid Off

Vuyo Fakudze, from Swaziland, recently completed his undergraduate degree from African Christian College as a UKWAZI Scholarship Recipient. He wrote this reflection about his journey through college the past few years:   Soon, I will be sleeping for the first time in three years knowing that I have no assignment due. Believe me when I say there is nothing as disturbing as knowing that there is an assignment you have not finished. You sleep but you do not really sleep. That is probably the reason why college life is exhausting such that the only thing you want to do after graduation is rest. The preparation one goes under at African Christian College involves being squeezed, shaken, stretched, folded, and unfolded....

From Prison Cells to College Classrooms

Lazarus Libongo is in the first few months of college in Swaziland and is able to attend because of the UKWAZI Scholarship that sales of macadamia nuts and oil make possible. This is his story, in his words. My life was not as easy as walking through golden roses, but it was a life full of challenges; it was survival of the fittest. I passed through mud trains, deep valleys, and also through thick bushes. My motto was, “Life is what you make it.” I grew up in a family of four, and I am the youngest. I was born in the year 1990 on 12 January and I am proudly Zimbabwean. I grew up in a village where...

Thank You for Making College Possible for Me

Ncobile Simelane is from Siteki, Swaziland and in November 2017 graduated from African Christian College. She is a UKWAZI Scholarship Recipient -- your purchases help students like Ncobile attend college. A Better Nut. A Better World. These are Ncobile's words -- I want to profoundly appreciate the school for providing the various jobs which assisted me in paying fees and in many other things. I do not think there is somewhere else where I could get this education with this amount of fees. I also do not forget the quality of education from highly qualified professors and the other staff members who are completely dedicated in ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the college. The three years...

The Riches I Found in College

My name is Charity Kanyoza from the Warm Heart of Africa: Malawi. I came to African Christian College in 2015 and in 2017 I have graduated with a degree in theology with a counseling major. And, I was able to attend college as an UKWAZI Scholarship Recipient. My experience with African Christian College has been life changing. I came with a mind-set of seeing the world as ‘Malawi’, but while in college my perception of the world (and life in general) dramatically changed. Apart from the impact of theology and counseling education that I received, being in a country with a different culture and in the midst of people of different cultures has played a big role in making me...

Changed in Thinking & Willingness to Help

My name is Bright Himakampa. I am a Zambian, born in 1987 in a place called Mbala, Northern Province of Zambia. I completed my secondary school in 2007 and did part time jobs for five years before coming to African Christian College in 2013 to study counselling. Since 2013, I had an opportunity to learn and advance in the knowledge of the Bible on how to read, interpret, understand, teach, preach, and how to apply it to today’s contemporary world. Majoring in counselling has opened doors of excelling in other fields of psychology, and now I am seeing myself as a changed person in thinking and willingness to help people who are psychologically and spiritually struggling. Supplementary courses like Change...
